Breaking the Bank

Time to "break the bank" and put the coins in to savings bonds. Owen has had more time to collect then Brinn and I'm pretty sure the next time "breaking the bank" comes around, he'll have a better idea of what he'd like to do with the money inside. We kept little notes on all the bills from family and friends that the kids have received over the past few years - it was fun reading who they were from and what they were given for. Our favorite was a bill that had blue stains on it - a gift from Dad to Owen after he spilled paint all over my classroom rug (and himself). Another one from a complete stranger a few weeks ago when Owen, Brinn, and I decided to go use our "free birthday breakfast" coupon from IHOP. Owen is still under the impression it's his birthday - another diner heard him and came over and gave him a $1 bill. I'm thinking I need to get me one of those birthday coupons and start carrying it around! Aunt D is always good at filling the banks too, marking them with colored stars and stuffing them in secretly.

I love Anchor Hocking glass and found this glass piggy bank at Vidler's 5 & 10 near Buffalo when Owen & I went to visit the twins a couple of years ago. We had to say goodbye to the pig! First a trial wack from Owen, then Dad completed the assignment.

Owen wanted to take the hammer to this one too!

We collected $309.50 in less than three years. That's quite a savings bond for a little guy and his baby sister!
