When Owen was two and a half, he took a hard fall on concrete and landed on his hand - later that night I noticed his thumb was bent and locked in to place. After visiting our pediatrician and orthopedics, we were sent to a specialist at Children's Hospital. In hopes of having his thumb return to place, he went on watch status, but recently went to surgery status.
This kid was amazing. Did everything he was told, never complained, and although we know he was a little scared, others might not have picked up on it. When asked if he wanted to head to Toys R Us after surgery, he really would have rather gone straight home to show his cast off to Brinn. His only complaint afterwards is that the gas mask smelled like dog food.
It's only day four so I'm anticipating some complaining at some point, but for now he's excited to have his friends sign his cast and I'm hoping he figures out how to itch his face with his other hand.
